VetShare is 'owned by vets for vets' and was founded in 2012 by Mark Ethell and Paul Rennie because of the increasing presence of foreign ownership in the supply chain as well as corporate and foreign ownership of veterinary practices and big-box pet stores. The independents are continually getting the short end of the stick.
What started as a veterinary wholesaler, VetShare became the parent company of the successful buying and management group, Independent Vets of Australia. IVA's member practices from around the country enjoy an incredible array of rebates, rewards and discounts from a significant and select group of industry partners. The benefits are so compelling that practice membership has grown to include over 118 independent veterinary practices around Australia.
In June 2021 VetFamily announced its entry into the Australian market through the acquisition of Independent Vets of Australia (IVA). This acquisition brings together two complementary organisations each dedicated to supporting independent veterinary clinics and committed to empowering clinic owners and veterinarians to run better businesses and improving enhanced animal care. For IVA, VetFamily’s international scale and portfolio of solutions is expected to provide additional benefits to the IVA members over time. VetFamily, which has continuously expanded its geographic reach over the last few years, sees IVA as a great fit as it takes the step into the Australian market.
With the power and leverage of the group as well as the ongoing support of the community, veterinary practice ownership is easier, more profitable and more enjoyable.
